Gabriela Potorac 1988

Gabriela Potorac (born February 6, 1973 in Bacau ) is a former Romanian gymnast .

She began gymnastics at SC Bacau at the age of five . In 1988 she took part in the Olympic Games . In Seoul, Potorac won the silver medal with the Romanian team. She also won silver in the horse jump and, tied on points with American Phoebe Mills , bronze on the balance beam.

In 1989 Potorac became European champion on the balance beam at the European Gymnastics Championships , tied with Soviet gymnast Olesia Dudnik . She was also fourth on the uneven bars and in the all-around competition. At the world championships in the same year in Stuttgart, she won silver and bronze on the balance beam with the Romanian team. She was fifth on the uneven bars and sixth in the jump.

After the end of her sports career, Potorac emigrated to Japan.
