Gabriele Burmester

Gabriele Burmester (* 1947 in Munich ) is a German law scholar and former professor at the University of Trier .

Live and act

In addition to law , Burmester also studied music ( piano and violoncello ) at the University of Munich . After completing her legal training, she worked as a specialist lawyer for tax law and tax advisor in a law firm in Munich from 1978 . In 1986, she was with that of Helmut debatin supervised tax signature "Problems of income realization" of the University of Hamburg Dr. iur. received his doctorate . She then worked as Debatin's university assistant at the Hamburg Institute for Foreign and International Finance and Taxation. There habilitated Burmester in 1992 and received Venia legendi for the subjects German and international financial and tax law and international law .

She then took on the chair of her now emeritus doctoral supervisor at the University of Hamburg, but later turned down an offer. After another substitute for a professorship at the University of Erlangen , Burmester accepted a professorship for German and international finance and tax law from Trier University in 1994 , which she held until her retirement . Her successor was Henning Tappe .

Burmester's research focuses primarily on tax law, in particular international corporate tax law including double taxation agreements and international tax evasion .
