Gabriele Caliebe

Gabriele Caliebe (born February 25, 1954 in Hemer ) is a German lawyer and former judge at the Federal Court of Justice .

Career

Caliebe is married and has three children. After completing her legal training, she joined the higher judicial service in North Rhine-Westphalia in March 1981 . She initially worked at the Cologne Regional Court , where she was appointed judge at the Regional Court in September 1984. Following a secondment to the Cologne Higher Regional Court , she was appointed judge at the Higher Regional Court in August 1996. Since April 2003 she has been seconded to the Federal Ministry of Justice . On December 10, 2003, she was appointed judge at the Federal Court of Justice, where she was initially assigned to the Second Civil Senate, which was primarily responsible for corporate law . At the turn of 2010/2011, a controversy arose over personal contacts with a lawyer, as a result of which Caliebe entered the III. Civil Senate changed, with a view to the decision of the Administrative Court of Baden-Württemberg of January 17, 2011 (file number: 4 S 1/11) with effect from January 20, 2011 but was reassigned to the Second Civil Senate until further notice. For this Senate, she was sent to the Joint Senate of the highest federal courts since July 2009 . From January 2013 to December 2016 she was a member of the Presidium of the Federal Court of Justice. She retired on February 28, 2017. During her membership in the Federal Court of Justice she played a key role in shaping the case law of the Second Civil Senate.
