Scotstarvit Tower is a Tower House 3.2 km south of Cupar in the Scottish county of Fife . The tower is located between Tarvit Hill and Walton Hill , south of the River Eden near the A916 trunk road .
history
The six-story tower with an L-shaped floor plan, which is still largely intact today, was built by the Inglis family in the third quarter of the 16th century . In 1611 it was bought by Sir John Scot , author of the satire The Staggering State of the Scots' Statesmen . Scot had the tower rebuilt in the 1620s. The Scotstarvit Tower was later sold to the Wemyss family and in 1948 it was transferred to the National Trust . Today Historic Scotland entertains him . It was classified as a category A historic building, but lost this status. Today it is only considered a Scheduled Monument .
