Rata Langa
Rata Langa (* 1865 in Montelupone , Marche region , † 1937 in Rome ; actually Gabriele Galantara ) was the graphic artist and caricaturist for the Italian satirical magazine L'Asino (founded 1892). His caricatures were also printed in the German satirical magazine Der Wahre Jacob .
In Italy, Rata Langa had an artistic rank that was comparable to that of Thomas Theodor Heine in Germany. He was known far beyond the borders of his homeland. He was a staunch socialist ; his caricatures were directed against the clergy and militarism , among other things .
The pseudonym Rata Langa or Ratalanga is an anagram of his last name.
