Gabriele Köster (art historian)

Gabriele Köster (born December 18, 1964 in Mönchengladbach ) is a German art historian and director of the Magdeburg Cultural History Museum .

Köster studied art history, classical and Christian archeology and history in Berlin and Rome. As an art historian, she worked from 2000 to 2001 at the first major exhibition of the Council of Europe in Magdeburg on the subject of " Otto the Great , Magdeburg and Europe". From 2002 to 2003 Gabriele Köster worked at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich . In 2003 she completed her dissertation on “Artists and their brothers. Painters, sculptors and architects in the Venetian Scuole Grandi (until around 1600) ”at the Free University of Berlin . In 2004 she returned to Magdeburg, where she was initially a research assistant and from 2011 to 2013 coordinator of the Magdeburg Museums. In 2013 she succeeded Matthias Puhle at the Magdeburg Cultural History Museum and took over the management of the museum.
