Gabrielius Landsbergis (born January 7, 1982 in Vilnius , then Lithuanian SSR , Soviet Union ) is a Lithuanian conservative politician , Seimas member since November 2016 , member of the European Parliament from 2014 to 2016 and TS-LKD party leader since 2015 .

Life

In 2003 Gabrielius Landsbergis completed a bachelor's degree at the Faculty of History and in 2005 a master's degree at the Institute for International Relations and Political Science at Vilnius University . He then worked as a consultant in the Department of Foreign and European Affairs of the Government Chancellery of the Republic of Lithuania .

Gabrielius Landsbergis is a member of the conservative TS-LKD . He is vehemently in favor of Georgia , Ukraine and Moldova joining the EU and for sanctions against Russia. In the 2014 European elections Landsbergis was the European Parliament voted. In 2016 he resigned and took part in the 2016 parliamentary elections as the top candidate on the TS-LKD list . He has been a member of the Seimas since November 2016 . He was also the opposition leader until March 2019 .

family

His grandfather is the politician Vytautas Landsbergis (* 1932), the first head of state of Lithuania after regaining independence in 1990. His grandmother is the pianist and professor Gražina Ručytė-Landsbergienė (* 1930). His father is Vytautas V. Landsbergis (* 1962), director and author.

Gabrielius Landsbergis is married. His wife Austėja Landsbergienė (* 1977) is a PhD education manager, founder of the kindergarten and director of the Lithuanian pre-school education company UAB “Vaikystės sodas”. They have the sons Augusta and Vilhelma and the daughters Morta and Gertrūda.
