Gaede Prize

The Gaede Prize , donated by the Cologne entrepreneur Manfred Dunkel and funded by Leybold GmbH (Cologne), has been an annually awarded physics prize by the German Vacuum Society (DVG) since 1986 and by the German Physical Society since 2018 . The award is administered by the Gaede Foundation.

The prize honors work in basic research, application and process engineering in the fields of vacuum physics and technology, thin layers, surface physics, materials and processes in solid-state electronics, and nanostructural science and technology. The prize consists of a certificate, the model of the first molecular air pump of the name bearer Wolfgang Gaede and prize money of 10,000 euros.
