Gaius Sentius Saturninus (Consul 19 BC)

Gaius Sentius Saturninus was a Roman politician and general of the Augustan period.

Saturninus came from a Republican senatorial family that was based in Atina . He was first mentioned as a follower of Sextus Pompey , but appears to have switched sides since he was born in 19 BC. Was elected to the ordinary consul . In one of the following years he was proconsul of Africa , probably 14/13 BC. BC or 13/12 BC Chr.

In the year 7 BC He was Legatus Augusti pro praetore in Syria. In the years 4 to 6 AD, Saturninus probably fought under the command of Tiberius in Germania, for which he was awarded the ornamenta triumphalia .

He had three sons, two of whom made it to the consulate, Gaius Sentius Saturninus and Gnaeus Sentius Saturninus .
