Gakuen Heaven
Gakuen Heaven ( Japanese 学園 ヘ ヴ ン , gakuen hevun , eng . "School Heaven") is a media franchise that includes the computer game Gakuen Heaven: Boy's Love Scramble! the company Spray began in 2002. More games, a manga and an anime followed . The works are classified in the genre Shōnen-Ai (Boys Love).
content
The games and other adaptations take place at Bell Liberty Gakuen (short: BL Gakuen, where BL usually refers to Boys Love), a remote boys' school. The young Keita Itō ( 伊藤 啓太 ), who comes from a wealthy family, is transferred to the renowned school. There he is received in a friendly way and gradually gets to know his classmates. Including the older chairman of the student council, Tetsuya Niwa ( 丹羽 哲 也 ), the handsome Kaoru Saionji ( 西 園 寺 郁 ), Kazuki Endō ( 遠藤 和 希 ), who inherited the position of chairman of the school from his grandfather, and the cool Hideaki Nakajima ( 中 嶋英明 ), Deputy Student Council Chair.
Little by little, love and hate relationships develop between the characters. At the same time, it is about a secret that lies hidden in Keita's past.

Computer games
The first game was released on August 2, 2002 by SPRAY, Visual Art’s Boys Love game brand in Japan for the PC. The character design of the game was created by You Higuri .
In November 2003, July 2004 and February 2005 three games for the PlayStation 2 followed by the same publishers.
Light novel
Since October 2002, a light novel on Gakuen Heaven by Tamami has been published by Biblos in Japan .
Manga
From March 2004, the Biblos publishing house in Japan published a manga on the games, which was drawn by You Higuri . The chapters first appeared in the Be × Boy magazine and later at irregular intervals in five edited volumes .
The manga was published in English by Tokyopop's Imprint Blu . Four volumes in German were published by Carlsen Comics from June 2006 .

In 2006, the Tokyo Kids studio produced a 13-part anime television series for the games, directed by Yukina Hiiro . The character design was created by Yumi Nakayama . The series aired from April 1, 2006 to June 24, 2006 by AT-X in Japan.
An English version of the anime is distributed by Media Blasters.

The music for the series was composed by Kazuya Nishioka. School boys by Yamato were used for the opening credits, while the credits were highlighted with a panorama by Masāki Fujioka.
Radio plays
Five radio plays on the franchise were released on CD in Japan. There are also two mini radio plays.

From July 25th to 30th, 2008 the musical "Gakuen Heaven" Musical - Bell Liberty Prince ( 「学園 ヘ ヴ ン」 ミ ュ ー ジ カ ル 〜 ベ ル ル リ バ テ ィ ★ プ aufgeführt ン ス 〜 ) was performed.
reception
Christel Scheja from Splashcomics speaks of a less than original plot of the manga, but You Higuri implemented it in good drawings and a balanced relationship between tension and eroticism. The manga also contains more explicit scenes than the artist's earlier works, but this is not overstrained.
