Galleon is a Swedish progressive rock band formed in 1985 .

history

Galleon was founded in 1985 as Aragon and experimented in the first years of its existence with changing line-ups and changing musical styles. From 1989 there was a permanent line-up consisting of Micke Värn ( guitar ), Göran Fors ( bass , vocals) and Dan Forsan ( drums ). After the creation of the first demo tape, the name was changed to Galleon. In 1992, while recording the first album Lynx , the keyboardist Ulf Pettersson joined the band.

Three albums followed, in 1996 they started their first European tour through Sweden, England and Germany .

After the album Mind Over Matter , released in 1998 , Micke Värn announced in April 1999 that he would be leaving the band. He was replaced by Sven Larsson. This was followed by a tour of England, where they played at the Rotherham Rocks Festival, Belgium and Holland .

In 2006 Dan Fors left the band for family reasons, Göran Johnsson (ex- Grand Stand and Spektrum ) joined the band for him .

style

Galleon's musical style is melodic, keyboard-heavy neo-prog , with echoes of Genesis , Marillion , Rush and IQ .
