Galletas Fontaneda is the trade name of a world-famous biscuit brand in Spain .
history
In 1881 Eugenio Fontaneda Millán founded the first production facility in Aguilar de Campoo . The Galletas Fontaneda quickly became very important in Spain. In 1923 the production became known under the name Manufactura nacional de galletas, chocolates y bizcochos Hijo de E. Fontaneda , when galetas in Catalan and Basque biscuit jars designed by well-known artists were sold. In 1927, the Galletas Fontaneda dominated the national pastry market. In 1933 the production capacity was tripled.
In 1996 the multinational United Biscuits ( Nabisco ) took over the Galletas Fontaneda factory. The Fontaneda brand was also registered in the USA in 1996. In 2002 the plant in Aguilar de Campoo was closed and production for the manufacture and maintenance of the brand was moved to other plants in Spain. In 2006, the US Kraft Foods Group took over the Spanish brand Galletas Fontaneda.
In 2010 the Kraft Group expanded the brand name. The product ranges Fontaneda Digestive , Fontaneda Fruit & Fit , María Fontaneda , Fontaneda Marie Lu , Osito Lulu and Fontaneda sin Azúcares (without sugar) appeared under the brand . Since then, Kraft Biscuits Iberia SA has manufactured the Galletas Fontaneda brands in Spain with a total of 18 production lines.
