The Düsseldorf-Grafenberg racecourse was built from 1909. The horse races that have been held since 1836, initially in connection with the Lower Rhine Music Festival , took place in the Golzheimer Heide, Bilker Busch and Benrather Heide, and from 1891 on the Lausward . It was not until 1909 that the current location on Grafenberg, southwest of Haus Roland, was gradually developed. The racecourse is located in the Ludenberg district and is located in the forest. There is also a golf club, parts of which are located within the area of the racecourse. There is the racetrack beer garden and the riding stables catering. The area has numerous bridle paths and several riding stables. It is operated by Düsseldorf Galopp, the Düsseldorfer Reiter- und Rennverein eV founded in 1844. The weighing building, the Alte Waage , was built in 1913 and is a listed building. There the jockey are weighed. There are also rooms for race management, press and paramedics. There is also a golf club, parts of which are located within the area of the racecourse. There is the racetrack beer garden and the riding stables catering. The area has numerous bridle paths and several riding stables. There has been a tea house since 2013 that is used for events. The main grandstand was built in 1989.

The height differences are unusual and can be up to 15 meters depending on the race track. A key point is the elevation before turning into the curve to the home straight. On the home stretch there is another climb to be mastered.

In 2019, ten days of racing were held at the Düsseldorf racecourse. Five group races are held in Düsseldorf , including two classic mare races . The 1000 Guineas takes place in June. The Diana Prize is held in August and is part of the German Racing Champions League racing series .
