Game Winner

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A Game Winner ( English , in German literally "victory hit ") is a game-decisive throw in basketball .

The game winner is a throw that brings about the final decision of a game; In close games it is very often only done in the last seconds of the game or even with the final siren (this is called a buzzer beater ). Players such as Michael Jordan , Reggie Miller , Kobe Bryant , Robert Horry and Larry Bird are known for such decisive throws .

However, a distinction must be made between a game winner and a turning point in the game. So an important basket win in the middle of the 3rd quarter, which provides a strong motivation boost within the team, can be a turning point in the game, but is by no means a game winner.
