Chess table
Chess tables are mostly small Beistell tables , one on or in the tabletop, which can be as round square chessboard is incorporated. This is either an inlay in the wood or consists of 64 two-tone tiles , each laid alternately in a checkerboard pattern . The material of the table is traditionally wood ( mahogany , ramin , oak , walnut ), but it can also be made of plastic or metal. Chess tables often have drawers in which the corresponding figures can be stored.
The chess table originally comes from the Orient . During the Age of Enlightenment and the Baroque , the oriental rulers passed their time playing chess. Later, the considerably cheaper and more space-saving chessboards developed for the normal population.
The CMT chess computer table was developed in the GDR for export to western countries .
