Ganbare Goemon ( Jap. がんばれゴエモン , literally as "Do your best, Goemon!" Outside Japan Mystical Ninja ) is a computer game - Franchise of the Japanese game developer and publisher Konami . The games are about the adventures of the main character Goemon and his companions. The arcade machine Mr. Goemon (1986, Japan only) marks the start of the series .

Overview

The protagonist Goemon is vaguely based on Ishikawa Goemon , the noble thief from Japanese folklore. While the earlier games still portray Goemon as a noble thief, over the course of the series he has become more and more the standard video game hero. Typical of Goemon is his blue, bushy hair and a kiseru used as a weapon . The universe of the games is set in a cartoon-like, mystical, feudal Japan, where allusions to folklore and legends of Japan are made again and again. Although the series has its roots in the genre of action adventure games , there is now a wide range of Ganbare Goemon games such as role-playing games, puzzle games or board games. Ganbare Goemon is extremely popular in Japan, there is a wide range of merchandise, as well as various animes and mangas .
