The Ganges Spectacled Bird ( Zosterops palpebrosus ) is a songbird that lives in the open woodlands of tropical Asia from India to China to Indonesia .
The 12 cm long bird is greenish on the back and tail, yellow on the head and throat and white on the belly and dark circles. It has rounded wings and strong legs. In addition to insects, nectar and various fruits are also part of the diet. The Ganges Spectacled Bird is a sociable bird that forms large flocks with hundreds of animals outside of the breeding season.
The swarms dissolve during the mating season. The breeding pair builds a deep, bowl-shaped nest out of grass in trees, bushes or bamboo thickets. The female incubates two to five pale blue eggs for two weeks. The young birds fledge after twelve days.
