Sprockhoff no. 721

The Boitze passage grave with the Sprockhoff no. 721 is about 750 meters south of Boitze in Lower Saxony . It originated between 3500 and 2800 BC. BC in the Neolithic as a megalithic system of the funnel beaker culture (TBK). Neolithic monuments are an expression of the culture and ideology of Neolithic societies. Their origin and function are considered to be the hallmarks of social development. The large stone grave has been owned by the state since 1854 and thus escaped further destruction.

description

The roughly 35.0 meter long and 6.5 meter wide rectangular barren bed has only an incomplete border around the 60 centimeter high earth dam. Almost all the stones on the eastern long side are missing. The southern end is also badly disturbed, the curbs of which are tilted outwards. The approximately 6.5 meter long chamber is located at the southern end of the bed. She still has almost all the bearing stones in situ . One of the original five capstones is on top, a second has fallen into the chamber. Presumably it is a passage grave .
