Gangsta lovin '

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Gangsta Lovin ' is the first single from Eve's third studio album, Eve-Olution, released in 2002. It became her second number two hit on the Billboard Hot 100 after Let Me Blow Ya Mind and her third top ten hit in the UK.

History of origin

Just like Let Me Blow Ya Mind , "Gangsta Lovin '" was another worldwide hit. The song is a duet with R & B - Soul singer Alicia Keys . When asked why she chose Alicia Keys for him, Eve said, "I love Alicia, I mean, she has a great talent and I needed a girl for my song, so why not Alicia Keys?" The chorus contains elements from Yarbrough and Peoples' song Don't Stop the Music from 1980, which was also used by Common in the 1997 hit All Night Long featuring Erykah Badu .

Music video

Little X directed the music video for "Gangsta Lovin '" . It starts with dancers dancing in T-shirts that read "Eve", "&", "Alicia", "In" and "Gangsta Love". Then the scene changes to a swimming pool where Eve and Keys are in bikini. Eve is dancing with a man here. Then you see two rooms, in the first room Eve raps her verse and in the second room Alicia Keys sings her text. For the second rap verse, Eve goes to a party looking for a man she's interested in. She finds the man and flirts with him, after which the music video ends.

The music video was parodied on the comedy show MADtv , in which Eve talks to ( MADtv member Debra Wilson ) about crime. The title of the parody was "Gangsta Lover".
