The Gaoligong Shan ( Chinese 高黎貢山 / 高黎贡山 , Pinyin Gāolígòng Shān , W.-G. Kao-li-kung Shan , Zaiwa Gauri Gvong), also called Gaoligong Mountains , is an offshoot of the Hengduan Mountain Range ( Hengduan Shan ).
It is located in the northwest of the southwest China province of Yunnan and in northeastern Myanmar ( Burma ). Its ridge is usually over 4000 m high, it forms the border between China and Burma . The mountains represent the watershed between the Nu Jiang ( Saluen ) and Irrawaddy rivers . The highest peak is Gawagapu ( 嘎 娃 嘎普 峰 , Gáwágápǔ Fēng ) at 5128 m . The mountain range runs parallel to the Nu Shan and Yun Ling Mountains from north to south.
