Gary Gutting
Gary Michael Gutting ( November 4, 1942 - January 18, 2019 ) was an American philosopher .
Gutting received his PhD from Saint Louis University with a thesis on "The Logic of Discovery in Theoretical Physics" (1968). He taught philosophy at the University of Notre Dame in Indiana and was the editor of Notre Dame Philosophical Reviews . He also published in the New York Times and their blog The Stone . His scientific focus was on contemporary French philosophy , philosophy of science and philosophy of religion .
