Gastón Rodríguez , full name Matías Gastón Rodríguez Olivera , (born February 12, 1994 in Montevideo ) is a Uruguayan football player .

Career

The 1.88 meter tall goalkeeper Rodríguez has been part of the Defensor Sporting youth department since 2007 . At least from the Clausura 2013 he was in the squad of the club's professional team and was occasionally nominated for the matchday squad. Initially, however, he was not used. He made his debut for this on October 9, 2016 in the Primera División , when he was coached by Eduardo Acevedo on matchday 7 of the 2016 season in the 1: 3 away defeat against Centro Atlético Fénix in stoppage time following the 45th minute of the 1. Half-time for Guillermo Reyes was substituted on. During the 2016 season, he was used four times in the league.

National team

Rodríguez was a member of the Uruguayan U-15 national team . From 2010 to 2011 he played six games for Uruguay's U-17 team and took part with them at the 2011 U-17 World Cup in Mexico. In the tournament, in which Uruguay finished 2nd, he was not used.
