history

The 16th century Gasthaus zum Schwanen was formerly called the Krone and was the first inn in the imperial city. Up until the 18th century, many high lords had their lodgings there, including Count von Mansfeld in 1626, Prince Eugene of Savoy in 1714 and Prince Karl of Lorraine in 1743. In 1634 the city's first post office was set up there. The current arcade structure was probably chosen when the house was modernized in 1711. A banister with oak balusters dates from the first half of the 18th century . The restaurant is located on the ground floor, guest rooms are furnished on the upper floors.

The Gasthof zum Schwanen is a three-story gabled house with a three-story rear building and a courtyard. On the front side there are four arcades with renewed pillars. The gable is covered with a basket arched arcade structure, the curve is provided with volutes . A stone crown completes the gable. On the ground floor there is the large dining room, the kitchen and another large hall. On the first floor there are remains of a former hall with a wooden ceiling. In the attic, the former dance hall is divided by modern partition walls. The ceiling stuccoed with tendrils probably comes from the modernization of 1711. On the second floor of the rear part of the building, ceilings have simple stucco frames.
