Gaston Rebry junior

Gaston Rebry junior (born March 10, 1933 in Wevelgem , † January 5, 2007 in Québec ) was a Canadian painter .

Gaston Rebry junior was the son of the three-time winner of Paris-Roubaix , the Belgian cyclist Gaston Rebry . Rebry initially followed in his athletic footsteps, albeit with moderate success. After his father's death in 1953, Rebry Jr. emigrated to Canada and settled in Quebec.

Gaston Rebry studied at the “École des beaux-arts” in Menen in Belgium, and in Canada he continued his training at the Montreal Art School . Until he could finally establish himself as a painter after ten years, he worked as a sales representative. He mainly painted landscapes. The former Prime Minister of Canada, Jean Chrétien , often gave works by Rebry to guests of state, for example to Pope John Paul II in 1998 .

In 2007 Gaston Rebry died of pneumonia .
