history
Selec was mentioned in writing for the first time in 1439 as villa Selcz and belongs to the lords' estate in Trenčín. At the time it was mentioned, however, it was already a developed place, so its founding can be traced back several centuries. The main sources of income for the population over time were agriculture, weaving, a paper mill in the 18th and 19th centuries and the manufacture of wooden tableware in the 20th century. However, most of the residents travel to the city of Trenčín for work.
