Melčice-Lieskové is a double municipality in the north- west of Slovakia with a population of 1,612 (December 31, 2019) and is part of the Trenčín District , part of the kraj Trenčiansky .
geography
The municipality is located in the south of the Považské podolie valley below the White Carpathians . The almost 21.6 km² large municipal area extends from the sediments of the Waag over the hill country to the Dúžniky mountain ( 807 m nm ). The center of the village lies at an altitude of 205 m nm and is ten kilometers from Nové Mesto nad Váhom and 14 kilometers from Trenčín .
Administratively, the municipality is divided into the municipality parts Melčice and Lieskové. In addition to these, there was also the Dolina district , which largely consists of individual settlements.
history
The community was created in 1975 through the merger of the previously independent places Melčice (Hungarian : Melcsic ) and Zemianske Lieskové (until 1927 "Zemanské Lieskové"; Hungarian Nemesmogyoród - until 1907 Nemeslieszkó ). The former place Malé Žabokreky (Hungarian Vágzsámbokrét ) was incorporated into Zemianske Lieskové as early as 1914.
Melčice was mentioned in writing for the first time in 1398 as Mylchycz , Lieskové, however, only in 1478 as Lezkocz . In 1828 there were 78 houses and 618 inhabitants in Melčice, 43 houses and 335 inhabitants in Lieskové.

According to the 2011 census, there were 1574 inhabitants in Melčice-Lieskové, including 1476 Slovaks, 11 Czechs and others. 75 residents did not provide any information. 778 residents confessed to the Roman Catholic Church, 482 residents to the Evangelical Church AB. Other denominations each had less than 10 residents. 155 inhabitants had no denomination and the denomination of 128 inhabitants has not been determined.
