Veľké bierovce (Hungarian Nagybiróc ) is a municipality in the north- west of Slovakia with 716 inhabitants (December 31, 2019) and is part of the Trenčín District , part of the kraj Trenčiansky .
geography
The municipality is located in the Považské podolie valley landscape , more precisely in the Trenčianska kotlina subunit (German for " Trenčian valley basin"). On the eastern edge of the village, the streams Soblahovský potok and Turniansky potok flow , which together flow into the Waag southwest of the town. The center of the village lies at an altitude of 202 m nm and is ten kilometers from Trenčín .
Neighboring municipalities are Opatovce in the north, Trenčín in the northeast, Trenčianska Turná in the east, Trenčianske Stankovce in the south, Adamovské Kochanovce in the southeast and Chocholná-Velčice in the west.
history
The place was first mentioned in writing in 1300 as a Bur and concerns the local priest. The village belonged to Trenčín Castle for a long time . In 1550 a total of twelve farming families lived in the village, in 1623 there were 13 farming families and one free judge. In 1828 there were 45 houses and 391 inhabitants, whose main sources of income were agriculture, livestock and fishing. Until the Waag was regulated, the village was affected several times by floods.
The municipality in Trenčín County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary until 1918 and then became part of Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia.

According to the 2011 census, Veľké Bierovce had 650 inhabitants, including 634 Slovaks , 2 Czechs and 1 Magyar and 1 Russian . 12 residents did not provide any information on ethnicity .
529 residents committed themselves to the Roman Catholic Church, 69 residents to the Evangelical Church AB, 5 residents to the Greek Catholic Church and one resident each to the Baptists and the Pentecostal movement. 27 residents were without a denomination and the denomination of 15 residents was not determined.
