history

Memorial to fallen soldiers in the First World War

Today's community was created in 1960 through the merger of the following places:

  • Kostolné Mitice (Hungarian Mitta - until 1907 Kosztolnamitic )
  • Rožňové Mitice (until 1927 "Rožnové Mitice"; Hungarian Rozsonymitta - until 1907 Rozsonymitic )
  • Zemianske Mitice (until 1927 "Zemanské Mitice"; Hungarian Nemesmitta - until 1907 Nemesmitic )

Today these no longer form districts.

The original place was first mentioned in writing in 1269 as Mitha and was built near a toll station on the way to the Waagtal . In the 14th century it was divided into three different places. In 1828 they had a total of 94 houses and 823 inhabitants who lived mainly from agriculture.
