Ivanovce (Hungarian Ivánháza - until 1899 Ivanóc ) is a municipality in the north- west of Slovakia with 999 inhabitants (December 31, 2019) and is part of the Trenčín District , part of the kraj Trenčiansky .

geography

The village is located at the lower end of the Považské podolie valley near the so-called Beckov Gate, more precisely in the Trenčianska kotlina basin . The Ivanovský potok , which belongs to the catchment area of ​​the Waag , flows through Ivanovce . The White Carpathians rise north-west of the village on the border with the Czech Republic . The center of the village is at an altitude of 202  m nm and is 12 kilometers from Nové Mesto nad Váhom and 15 kilometers from Trenčín .

Neighboring municipalities are Melčice-Lieskové in the north, Krivosúd-Bodovka in the east, Beckov in the south, Štvrtok in the southwest and Haluzice in the west. The municipality borders on Bošáca , Nová Bošáca and Chocholná-Velčice via an exclave located about six kilometers northwest of the main town .

history

The oldest settlement in today's municipal area dates back to the Middle Paleolithic, with traces of a Szeletien settlement in the Skala area . After that the area was uninhabited again until the Neolithic Age, during the older Bronze Age a settlement of the Maďarovce culture stood in Skala .

The place was first mentioned in writing in 1398 as Iwany . At that time it was part of the dominion of Beckov Castle , later the village was owned by the landed gentry. In the 16th and 17th centuries, the landlords came from the Bánffy and Nádasdy families , after 1648 ownership was more complicated: the Révay , Rakovszky , Berényi , Serényi , Esterházy , Szulyovszky and Erdődy families owned estates in the village. In 1828 there were 99 houses and 981 inhabitants, whose main sources of income were agriculture, viticulture and sheep and cattle farming.

Until 1918 the place in Trenčín County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia.

According to the 2011 census, 915 inhabitants lived in Ivanovce, of whom 858 were Slovaks , 7 Czechs and 2 Germans , Magyars and Ukrainians each . 1 resident indicated a different ethnic group and 43 residents gave no information about the ethnic group.

454 residents committed themselves to the Roman Catholic Church, 320 residents to the Evangelical Church AB and 2 residents to the Greek Catholic Church; one resident professed a different denomination. 79 inhabitants were without a denomination and the denomination of 59 inhabitants was not determined.

A 3rd order road runs through the town center from Štvrtok to Kostolná-Záriečie . The Bratislava – Žilina railway line (next Melčice station) and the 1st order road 61 run south-east of the built-up area .
