Opatovce (Hungarian Vágapáti - until 1902 Apáti ) is a municipality in western Slovakia . It is located six kilometers southwest of Trenčín on the left bank of the Váh .
The place was first mentioned in writing in 1311 as villa Trensciniensis sancti Ypoliti , the name goes back to the Hippolytus of Rome .
