Trenčianske Jastrabie (until 1946 only "Jastrabie"; Hungarian Ölved - until 1907 Jasztrabje ) is a municipality in the north- west of Slovakia with 1,250 inhabitants (31 December 2019) and is part of the Trenčín District , part of the kraj Trenčiansky .
geography
The municipality is located in the northwestern foothills of the Nitrianska pahorkatina (part of the Danube Hills ) below the Strážovské vrchy and Považský Inovec mountains , immediately east of the Jastrabské sedlo saddle . The village is traversed by the Jastrabský creek in the Bebrava river system. The center of the village is at an altitude of 285 m nm and is 15 kilometers from Bánovce nad Bebravou and Trenčín .
Neighboring communities are Trenčianske Mitice in the north, Svinná in the east, Veľká Hradná in the south, each short Dubodiel , Trenčianske Stankovce and Trenčianska Turná in the southwest and Mníchova Lehota in the northwest.
history
The place was first mentioned in writing in 1269 as an estate of Trenčín Castle and was named after the falcons that are common in the area (Slovak Sg. Jastrab = Hungarian ölyv ). Later Jastrabie belonged to families like Mitich , Rozsnyó and Borcsány . In 1425 a stone church was built, in 1663 the village was affected by the Turks. In 1828 there were 43 houses and 430 inhabitants who lived from agriculture.
Until 1918 the place in Trenčín County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia. In 1944 there were heavy fighting between Czechoslovak partisans and the Wehrmacht, a total of seven people were killed in the Second World War.
1946 for better differentiation from other also Jastrabie introduced varieties mentioned the name Trenčianske Jastrabie on the location in Trenčín after earlier unofficial names like Jastrabie pri Trenčíne (z. B. in the Post Office) were common.
population
According to the 2011 census, Trenčianske Jastrabie had 1,191 inhabitants, of which 1,166 were Slovaks, four Czechs and one Moravian. 20 residents gave no information in this regard. 1067 residents professed to the Roman Catholic Church, eight residents to the Evangelical Church AB, three residents to the Jehovah's Witnesses and one resident each to the Old Catholic Church, the Evangelical Methodist Church and the Greek Catholic Church; two residents professed a different denomination. 57 inhabitants were without a denomination and the denomination of 51 inhabitants was not determined.
