The Frisia III is the largest car and passenger ferry operated by the Norden-Frisia shipping company , which operates regular services between the East Frisian island of Norderney and Norddeich . It is a further development of the Frisia IV and the shipping company's new flagship .

The double-ended ferry with the yard number 3301 was on September 1, 2014, on the Cassens shipyard in Emden placed on Kiel and ran there on February 28, 2015 from the stack . The Frisia III has an environmentally friendly diesel-electric drive that acts on four Voith-Schneider propellers of the type 16R5 EC / 100-1. On July 28, 2015 the Frisia III was christened and put into service in the port of Norderney . Like the Frisia VIII , the ship meets the requirements for receiving the Blue Angel eco- label for environmentally friendly ship design.
