The Frisia IV is a car and passenger ferry operated by the Norden-Frisia shipping company and operates on a regular basis between the East Frisian island of Norderney and Norddeich .

history

The ferry was built in the years 2001 to 2002 under the construction number 30239 at the Cassens shipyard in Emden . The keel was laid on July 31st, the launch on December 20th, 2001. The ship was completed in April 2002.

technology

The Frisia IV is powered by four diesel-electric motors (type: Schorch BN 7357 M-BX) with an output of 470  kW each , which act on Voith-Schneider propellers via reduction gears. Two systems are installed in the bow and stern of the ship. The energy is generated by four diesel engines .

The ship is designed as a double-ended ferry . Since it can travel in both directions and can be loaded and unloaded, it does not have to turn around in the two ports, which shortens the journey time.
