Guest prostitution

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

According to today's ideas , guest prostitution describes the custom common in the Middle Ages in Europe and Asia of giving visitors their daughter or wife to bed out of hospitality .

description

With this special form of hospitality , the visitor was not only given accommodation, but also his wife, daughter, sister, servant or any other woman committed to the host was put in bed. The guest should, however, show modesty and therefore, as is known from the knightly epoch, had to place his sword between himself and the sleeper. It also happened that the wife had to vacate her half of the marriage bed to make room for the guest. The offer could hardly be turned down as it was a sign of hospitality.
