Gastriege

Gastriege , along with Werdum and Edenserloog, is one of three districts of Werdum , a municipality in the integrated municipality of Esens in the East Frisian district of Wittmund , Lower Saxony .

The row settlement Gastriege was built on a sand ridge about 500 meters east of the core town of Werdum. The village was first mentioned in 1670 as Gastrige . The place name indicates the location of the village. It means row settlement on the higher farmland . In 1848 Gastriege had 129 inhabitants, who were spread over 18 residential buildings.
