Madhupran Wolfgang Schwerk (* 28. July 1955 ) is a German Ultra Marathon - Runners from Solingen . Professionally, he is a trained retail salesman , he has also served as baritone - opera singer , farmer , carpenter and poultry breeders worked before he became 1984 Haussmann. Wolfgang Schwerk is a vegetarian . He has been married to the opera singer Cornelia Berger-Schwerk since 1981, with whom he has a daughter.

Career

In the Bundeswehr in 1971 he ran untrained 5000 m in a time of 18 minutes. At the Sri Chinmoy 24-hour race in Cologne in 1987, he improved the German record, which is still unbroken today, to 276 km. From 1989 to 1995 he took a break from competition for family reasons. After that, he focused more on multi-day ultra runs. In 2001 he completed the Trans-Australia race (2900 miles , 4247 km). In 2002 he won the 3,100 mile race with a world record time. In March 2006 he was first on the 6-hour run in Nuremberg. In August 2006 he broke his own record in the Self-Transcendence 3100 Mile Race with a time of 41 days, 8 hours and 16 minutes. With this he set 74 new world records from 1400 miles to 5000 km.
