Residential and commercial building

The inn Rolands Eck in Berlin-Friedrichshagen , Scharnweberstrasse 80, is a restaurant opened in 1896 in the middle of the neighborhood . The monument with residential building in the Wilhelminian style is part of the Friedrichshagen area monument.

history

The inn was built on his residential property in 1895/96 on behalf of the house owner Reinhold Lerche and opened under the name "Rolandseck" in 1896. It was a typical family and club bar (original house number was Scharnweberstrasse 74). Already at the beginning of the 20th century there was bock beer from the Borussia brewery ; Bockwurst with sauerkraut was offered as a typical meal .

In 1908 Ludwig Mercier leased the inn from Reinhold Lerche and soon acquired it in full. Between 1908 and 1911 Mercier had some alterations and extensions carried out, including widening the veranda by a good meter towards the middle of the street and building a restoration hall to the south of it . He advertised his restaurant by means of an electrically illuminated column in what was then Friedrichstrasse (since 1947 Bölschestrasse ).

A popular dish in the 1920s was " rollmops with train" ( tartar sauce ). When Mercier died in 1935, his widow Elise Mercier initially continued to run the restaurant, but from 1938 leased it to the innkeepers Alma and Bernhard Krüger, who ran it until the early 1960s. In the GDR , the trade organization (HO) took over the restaurant business as a commission business . The owners of the house changed several times until the end of the GDR. After that there were several tenants with Indian, Italian and Irish cuisine. In 2004 Sylvio Groß and Silvio Pannek bought the house and have been offering German cuisine again since then.
