Gate of Taipei (Chinese : 台北 雙子星 大樓) refers to a building complex in the construction phase consisting of two skyscrapers in Taipei , Taiwan . The complex was designed by the Japanese architect Fumihiko Maki .

Construction phase

The foundation stone for the project was laid at the end of 2009, but work did not begin until 2013. The main developer of the Gates of Taipei is China Engineering Consultants Inc (CECI). The cost of the complex is estimated at around $ 12 billion in New Taiwan, the equivalent of around € 350 million.

Buildings and use

The main tower, which consists of several slightly recessed rectangles, is to reach a height of 318 meters and thus the second tallest building in the city after the 508 meter high Taipei 101 and the third tallest building in the country, behind the aforementioned Taipei 101 and the Tuntex Sky Tower in the city of Kaoshing . The compact building complex near the main train station is to have a hotel and offices in the 76-story high-rise building as well as a shopping center .

Surroundings

The Gate of Taipei is part of a plan to renew and modernize the city of Taipei. As part of this plan, additional new buildings are to be constructed around the Gate of Taipei complex. The city's nearby train station is also to be expanded and renewed. As part of the renewal of the station, which will also be planned by the architect Fumihiko Maki, a new line will also be created, the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) , which will connect the new Taipei station with the Taiwan Tao-yuan International Airport . A modern cityscape with extensive green areas is also to be created in the vicinity of the building complex.
