Gatow (from the Slavic gotow “ready” “ready”) is a northern district of the city of Schwedt / Oder directly on the Hohensaaten-Friedrichsthaler waterway in the Lower Oder Valley National Park . The district has an area of ​​1159 ha and 245 inhabitants (as of 2006).

history

The place was first mentioned in 1347. The residents mainly engaged in fishing and agriculture. At the end of the Second World War , two thirds of it was destroyed. On December 6, 1993 Gatow was incorporated into the city of Schwedt.
