The Gaunt Rocks (of English gaunt , barren, desolate, eerie ' ) are a small group of cliff rocks in front of the Graham Coast of Graham Lands on the Antarctic Peninsula . In the Wilhelm Archipelago they are 3 km west of the Barrosfelsen .

It was roughly mapped by participants in the British Graham Land Expedition (1934-1937) led by the Australian polar explorer John Rymill . The Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey carried out a more detailed mapping based on aerial photographs by Hunting Aerosurveys Ltd. between 1956 and 1957. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee descriptively named them in 1959 for their bleak and unwelcoming appearance.
