Gavin Hambly
Gavin Hambly (born July 4, 1934 in Sevenoaks , † October 18, 2006 ) was a British historian and orientalist.
Hambly graduated from King's College, Cambridge University , and received his PhD . There he was a student of the Indologist Percival Spear . In 1961 he became a Research Fellow at St. Anthony College in Oxford and went to Iran until 1963. In 1963/64 he was Smut's Research Historian in Cambridge. He was later a professor at the University of Texas at Dallas.
He dealt with the history of India, Iran and neighboring areas.
In 1966 he wrote a biography of John Malcolm who published a history of Persia in 1815.
