Gavin Hewitt

Gavin James Hewitt (born March 1951 in Penge, London ) is a British television presenter , BBC Europe editor, BBC News ' s news editor and author.

Life

Hewitt studied at St John's School, Leatherhead , Surrey, England, and at St John's College of the University of Durham . In 1972 he married Sally Jane Lacey, with whom he has two children.

He reported live from the fall of the Berlin Wall , in New York after 9/11 and in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina . He made three films about then President Bill Clinton , including All The President's Women and The Shaming Of The President . He is current BBC News ' s news editor.
