Gay & Terry Woods were an Irish folk rock duo that existed under that name from 1974 to 1978.

history

Gabriel "Gay" Corcoran (born 1948) and Terry Woods (born 1947) grew up as neighbors in Dublin . They played music together from 1963 and were married in 1968. The first album on which both appeared was Hark! The Village Wait of the British folk rock band Steeleye Span . After leaving the group, they founded the Woods Band , on whose first album of the same name they were also represented together.

The two appeared as Gay & Terry Woods from 1974. In 1975 they brought out the album Backwoods , followed by three more albums and a single by 1978 . Both drew for singing and concertina , Terry also for mandola , guitars and electric bass . Gay played autoharp , dulcimer and bodhrán . The couple separated in 1979 and divorced in 1980. A live album was subsequently released in 1995 and a sampler in 2002 .
