The Gazette des Beaux-Arts was an international scientific journal for art history founded in 1859 by Édouard Houssaye and published in Paris .

Its first editor in chief was Charles Blanc . It was a standard work in art history for almost 150 years. In 1872 it was bought by the politician and art collector Édouard André , and in 1903 Salomon Reinach took it over as directeur propriétaire . From 1929 the publisher was in the hands of the gallery owner, art historian and art critic Georges Wildenstein , from 1963 to 2001 in the hands of his son Daniel , who in turn also acted as owners. After Daniel Wildenstein's death in 2001, his heirs decided not to continue running the magazine, and its publication was therefore discontinued in December 2002.

The journal's editors included: Philippe Burty , Charles Ephrussi , Louis de Fourcaud , Louise Abbéma , Henri Bouchot, Camille Benoît , André Godard , Max J. Friedländer , Edmond Duranty , James D. Breckenridge , Leo van Puyvelde, Emile Hovelaque, Théophile Thoré , Joseph Baillio, Jean Cherpin, Wilhelm Reinhold Valentiner, Paul Durrieu, Eugène Müntz, Philippe Guilloux, Pascal Julien, Marcel Roethlisberger and many others.
