The shipyard Gebr. Friedrich is a shipyard founded in 1921 by the brothers Johann and Wilhelm Friedrich in Kiel . It has three longitudinal slip systems .

The shipyard is located in Kiel-Friedrichsort at the exit of the Kiel Canal and is a family business whose owners traditionally live on the shipyard premises. As successors and heirs, only daughters were born to the owners, starting with the founders. Her future husbands were involved in the business after the marriage.

The shipbuilding company can dry out ships with a length of 10 to 65 meters, a width of up to 10.5 meters and a weight of up to 600 t on the three slipways. A closed ship repair hall with a length of 50 meters, a width of 15.5 meters and a height of 24.5 meters is available for demanding repair and paint work. The shipyard drew up a demanding environmental protection and waste concept early on , which goes beyond the legal requirements.
In addition to shipbuilding and wooden boat building, the Gebr. Friedrich shipyard is particularly involved in repairs, conversions and extensions. The mechanical engineering department is also responsible for the pipeline construction and ship electrical engineering . The shipyard also carries out travel repairs on ships. In 2008, the shipyard won the Grand Prix for medium-sized companies in the Schleswig-Holstein / Hamburg region.
Floating house
The shipyard Gebr. Friedrich founded the working group living on water with designers, architects and sales managers . The first floating house built in accordance with GL guidelines in Germany was built at the shipyard . It consists of three levels with 140 square meters of living space, with the building services being housed on the lower deck.
