The Maternité Alpine birthplace is a birthplace in Zweisimmen in the Bernese Oberland .
history
As a result of the closure of the obstetric services at Spital Zweisimmen in April 2015, private individuals founded the Simmental-Saanenland Birth House cooperative on July 30, 2015 : Maternité Alpine , based in Zweisimmen. The aim of the cooperative was to achieve the construction and ongoing operation of a birthing center in order to permanently improve the inadequate supply situation for pregnant women and giving birth in the Upper Simmental.
In July 2016, the cooperative was able to find suitable premises for rent in Zweisimmen. In the further course of 2016, the necessary renovation and installation work was completed and the necessary permits were obtained, so that operations could start on January 1, 2017. The first baby was born in the birth center on January 7, 2017.
Offers and services
In addition to the birth in the house, the birthing center sees itself as a contact point for obstetric questions and problems from the beginning of pregnancy to the end of the puerperium and breastfeeding.
Role in the health system
The house has been included in the list of nineteen basic providers in the Canton of Bern .
