Dangerous Journey is a multi-part series by DEFA on behalf of the German TV Broadcasting Corporation (DFF). It was produced in six episodes in 1971 and 1972 and premiered in March and April 1972 and repeated in June and July 1973.

The film is a contribution by DEFA to the portrayal of West Germany in the post-war period in 1949, as it corresponds to the ideological self- image of the GDR : According to this, fascism is a consequence of the chauvinistic and imperialist elements of finance capital (see Dimitrov thesis ), which is above all the demarcation from Enables the West, which has not yet overcome fascism due to prevailing capitalism. The film is supposed to document that (and why) the Federal Republic cannot cope with coming to terms with National Socialism.

action

Fred Paulsen from Zwickau visits his relatives in Eisenthal in Bavaria for the first time after the end of the war. He is involved in a murder case and is finally arrested. While he is being interrogated, he has to realize that the authorities are not interested in solving the case, but only in finding a culprit as quickly as possible. The investigators are not interested in whether he is actually the culprit. Finally Paulsen manages to escape. He is now investigating himself. In doing so, he comes across a network of former SS members. His brother Lothar is one of them. And he wants to keep his past a secret at all costs and doesn't shy away from murder. Because his past endangers his career with a company in the chemical industry. An adventure with car chases, robberies, extortion and murder develops. Paulsen must quickly realize: Now his life is in danger too.
