Coulommiers prison

The prison in Coulommiers , a French commune in the Seine-et-Marne in the region Ile-de-France , was built in the 1850th The former prison at Impasse Venet-Rotival , outside the historic city center, has been on the list of architectural monuments in France as Monument historique since 1996 .

The quarry stone building was built according to plans by the architect Mangeon and was used as a prison until 1958. It is 28 meters long and 15 meters wide. The building is surrounded by a high wall and protected by a moat. Access to the site is via a bridge.

The Coulommiers City Library has been located in the building of the former prison since 2003.
