Saint-Lazare prison
The Saint-Lazare prison was a prison on Rue du Faubourg-Saint-Denis in the 10th arrondissement of Paris ( France ).
history

Vincent de Paul founded the Congrégation de la Mission , also known as the Lazarists , in 1632 and set up a leprosy hospital at 107 Rue du Faubourg-Saint-Denis , which was inaugurated on January 7, 1632.
In 1793 the building was converted into a prison, and during the “Grande Terreur” era it played an important role when thousands of people were arrested, tortured and killed. In 1896 the building became a women's prison. In 1935 it was largely demolished and the Paris hospital administration was housed in the remaining wing. Only the prison infirmary and the chapel, built in 1834 by Louis-Pierre Baltard (father of the architect Victor Baltard ), remained. These parts of the building were listed as a historic neoclassical building ensemble in 2005 .

Individual evidence
