The battle at Le Pallet took place on September 22nd, 1793 during the uprising of the Vendée at Le Pallet in the Loire-Atlantique department .

After his defeat at Torfou , the republican general Jean Baptiste Camille de Canclaux decided to withdraw to Nantes . At the same time, the rearguard of the Republican convoy was attacked by the Vendéer. They confiscated several transport vehicles, including the Republican ambulances, and massacred 400 wounded Republicans from the Battle of Torfou .

Jean-Baptiste Kléber wrote about it: Surgeons, wounded, sick and carters were mercilessly slaughtered by these monsters. The reprisals that were subsequently used made them atone for this barbaric act. Since that moment of horror, the justly indignant soldier has never wanted to pardon any of these villains .

But the troops of the Vendée were not enough, they were waiting for reinforcements from Charette and Lescure , but they did not appear. Indeed, after his victory in Montaigu-Vendée , Charette had decided to attack the Republican-held Saint-Fulgent ; he had written a letter to Charles de Bonchamps asking him to postpone the attack, but it was too late. Finally, the troops of Charette and Lescure could not attack the Republicans from behind and prevent their retreat as planned, so that after three offensives, all of which had failed, the generals of the Vendée decided to break off the battle at Le Pallet and order the withdrawal . The Republicans were thus able to return to Nantes without any further hindrance.
